Improve the facilities and disability access at the local swimming pool

The project will improve the facilities and disability access at our local swimming pool. The swimming pool is used by the Orthodox and Ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities who find it very hard to use other mainstream facilities, as they do not meet the religious and cultural needs for single-sex sessions for both men and women, (there are rarely, if ever, any men-only sessions). The pool is open to other community and schools’ groups to use.

The primary aim of funds awarded from SUEZ Communities Trust will be to renovate the changing areas of the swimming pool and install accessible cubicles, WCs and changing areas for improved access for disabled visitors. While our users are primarily from the Jewish community, our purpose is to benefit organisations or school groups from any section of the local community. To this end, once improvements are made, we will timetable our swimming sessions to allow at least 104 days access to the general public.
