Improved Access and Front of House Facilities

The Old Vic's capital project is designed to improve access to our Grade II* listed theatre and enhance the front of house spaces to meet the needs and expectations of 21st century audiences. The primary objectives of the front of house alterations are to: • Create step-free access to the Auditorium and basement bar • Improve Auditorium seating provision for people with disabilities • Provide a new accessible inner foyer and Box Office • Improve WC facilities and numbers at basement and third floor levels • Improve bar provisions in the basement and entrance foyer • Improve means of escape from the building, notably for people with disabilities • Update existing mechanical, electrical and public health services in the building These improvements will ensure that The Old Vic continues to attract audiences, remains sustainable in the long-term and is accessible to all. In addition to protecting a local landmark, they will enhance its use by local communities, particularly people with disabilities.
