Improvements to natural light within Chellaston Community Centre

The existing building relies on artificial lighting even through the daytime hours when the Centre is in use. Existing narrow windows were originally installed to overcome vandalism but in recent years this has been addressed by establishing a secure perimeter fence.

The opportunity to increase natural light by enlarging the existing windows, the creation of two further windows and the replacement of an entrance door with a fully glazed unit was identified.

This should enhance the natural light within the main hall, large meeting room and a cloakroom which is sometimes used as a story time room for pre-school children.
