Improving the conservation status of the Freshwater Pearl Mussel

The River Clun is designated as a SAC for freshwater pearl mussel. This project will address the unfavourable conservation status of the site. The project will support a conservation officer to deliver practical measures to improve the catchment eg implementing measures to limit the impact of agricultural practises and waste water discharges. Examples of the practical works are as follows; fencing coppicing, pollarding, provison of alternative livestock watering etc.
