Improving the visitor experience at Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Centre

Fingringhoe Wick is an 80 hectare mosaic of woodland, scrub, heath, reedbed and intertidal wetland with an outstanding wildlife offer and strong regional reputation. Despite this, our Nature Discovery Centre (NDC) at Fingringhoe is in urgent need of repair and sees the lowest through-the-door numbers of any of our sites. Most visitors arrive and head straight out onto the reserve, the unwelcoming building not offering enough of an incentive to step inside. Consequently the building does not allow us to meet our ambitions to engage, educate and inspire visitors from the local community and beyond.

We will undertake work in a number of areas in the building which will leave it a more comfortable and welcoming space with the modern facilities our visitors expect. Work will cover the glazing, external cladding, new toilets, and plumbing, some of which is to be funded outside the LCF.
