Improving the Visitor Experience at RSPB Dungeness

This project focuses on developing interpretation to encourage visitors to make better use of the reserve’s wildlife hides. Hides can sometimes be wrongly perceived as “no-go” areas by certain groups, including families, thought of as solely accessible for birdwatchers. We plan to:
a) install welcome boards outside the hides, giving visitors information about the hides and the wildlife they might see first-hand;
b) develop a family-friendly ‘pebble trail’ leading from the Visitor and Education Centre out onto the nature trail, passing three of the wildlife hides. The trail will enhance the existing interpretation by offering a variety of hands-on activities.
