Improving Wetland Biodiversity in Kirklees

The project aims to deliver wetland habitat improvement work to help conserve priority species identified in the Kirklees MC BAP, primarily great-crested newt & water vole. A project officer supported by local volunteers will undertake habitat improvement work at three sites to protect existing populations & to encourage natural expansion. The sites include a secondary school, farm & an industrial site. Full training in practical conservation work & species surveying will be provided for volunteers. The project will promote awareness of the value of wetland sites & encourage greater use & enjoyment of them
