Increasing Capacity, GymMad Gymnastics Academy Ltd, Stockton on Tees

This is a project to install a new extended floor area, a safety rig, and to change the lighting at
GymMad Gymnastics Academy.

Due to increased demand and lack of space, the club need a new extended floor area for training, development and growth for people of all ages, albeit predominantly younger individuals; installation of a safety rig; and installation of a new cost-effective lighting system to reduce glare and reduce energy costs. These items will allow the academy to expand, maintain and meet local demand, including offering taster sessions and classes for those from disadvantaged homes.

With the funding GymMad would like to meet the following outcomes:
• Increase participation for gymnasts of walking age to 3 years by 48 members
• Increase participation for adults to take part, perform, compete and have fun in gymnastics classes by 48 members
• Increase participation of 3-5 years in the pre-school programme by 24 new members
• Increase space and participation for new gymnasts to join recreational classes from 5 years old by 72 members
• Increase opportunities for young people from age 12 to join the leadership academy by at least 15 new members
• Increase opportunities further by developing the facility to a higher standard which will allow all current members (approx.500) and new members (estimated 200) to develop their skills to a much higher level and reach their potential.
This project will enable GymMad: to maintain the existing members and not cancel any classes due to insufficient space and equipment; to increase all classes; to allow those on the waiting lists to have opportunity to join this amazing facility (some of who have waited over a year); to add new classes to the timetable; and to offer new opportunities for the community who are eager to join and be part of this gymnastics family that has been created.

It has been identified that Stockton on Tees is an underprivileged area with very limited community facilities and opportunities to come together and develop a cohesive community with a growing population of 21,045 at Ingleby Barwick alone. The Stockton on Tees area has a high rate of unemployment and GymMad would ensure that volunteering opportunities are offered to upskill adults to gain transferrable skills for employment. Ingleby Barwick area is fairly affluent, therefore GymMad would offer gymnastics and fitness activity for those who can and are prepared to pay for these services. A low-cost admission will be offered to disadvantaged members of the community, offsetting the balance by developing sustainable income stream from the participants capable of full payment.
