Ings Church, Kendal, Creation of a Community Building

The project aims to improve the ‘comfort level’ of the church by replacing electrical under-pew heating with energy-efficient heating from a renewable source – an air-source heat pump. This will serve new, under-floor heating and energy-efficiency measures will also be employed, including under-floor and loft insulation.

In addition, existing fixed pews will be replaced with moveable furniture, creating a more versatile space, meeting the needs of a more diverse range of activities in the building. External pathways will be graded to meet the new floor level created, in order to improve access for wheelchair users and others with mobility problems.
