Installation of Geothermal Heating and Hot Water system at Rudry Hall

Rudry Hall has obtained a £300,000 CFAP grant from WAG to renovate/ refurbish the Hall. Whilst this work is done, a new geothermal heating and hot water system will be installed. This will provide a constant, year round, inexhaustible supply of low cost, low carbon energy through a ground source heat pump. This will save 75% of annual running costs – the current system is old fashioned and inefficient, and leads to the Hall being unwelcoming, particularly for the old, young and infirm. There is no gas supply to the Hall and this severely limits the options for heating the hall efficiently. We expect the Hall to become a prime example in the area of how green energy can be utilised effectively and efficiently. The Hall will utilise part of the large area of green land immediately adjacent to the Hall to “collect” the energy from the ground.
