Installation of New Basketball Court, Ampney Crucis Parish Council, Gloucestershire

The objective of this project is to remove a defunct and damaged concrete skate ramp, which is no longer safe for use, and replace it with a surfaced basketball court that will provide an accessible recreational space for residents of all ages and abilities.

Ampney Crucis, while a relatively small village, serves as a central hub for several surrounding villages. The proposed basketball court will offer opportunities for exercise and social interaction not only for residents of Ampney Crucis but also for neighbouring communities where no similar outdoor recreational facilities exist. Its location, in close proximity to the local school, will ensure accessibility for schoolchildren, parents, and carers.

Currently, there are no comparable facilities available in the nearby area. The basketball court will be an inclusive, freely accessible space, with users required to bring their own ball. It is anticipated that the facility will be particularly beneficial to teenagers within the village and surrounding areas, as there is no existing youth club or dedicated recreational provision for this age group. However, the court is designed to cater to a broad demographic, encouraging participation across all age groups.
