Interpreting the Mucking Flats

Essex Wildlife Trust is turning the largest landfill site in Essex into a superb nature park where wildlife will flourish and people will have access to a wonderful green space. The newly built visitor centre overlooks the River Thames and the internationally important Mucking Flats.
The Flats are designated as a SPA and because of the habitat and its fragility there is no access.Being home to internationally important numbers of Avocet, Knot, Dunlin, Black tailed godwit, Redshank, and Grey plover we wish to interpret and increase people’s enjoyment and appreciation of this natural heritage.through use of a camera mounted on the Flats sending pictures to the Visitor Centre for all to view.
