Projects / John Carroll Leisure Centre Open Space

John Carroll Leisure Centre Open Space

This open space contains an area of dated and unused play equipment with little or no safety surfacing, timber trim trail equipment, an astro-turf football pitch and areas of overgrown trees and vegetation.
This project aims to re-vamp the play area, by removing what is left of the old play equipment and the remains of the unsafe safety surfacing. New equipment will be installed which will encourage more creative and imaginative play. The new equipment will provide play opportunities for a wide age range and ability of children. New areas of seating will be installed, providing local people with somewhere to sit and relax. The entrance into the park will also be improved and areas of unnecessary fencing removed.
This new play area would provide a central space for local people where they can meet, celebrate, relax and spend time with their family and friends. It will encourage more community cohesion, and help to decrease fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.
