Jubilee Country Park, Kent – Pond Project

The project aims to improve water retention within Jubilee Country Park in order to maintain and enhance the population of Great Crested Newts whose continued presence is threatened by increased drying out of ponds during the summer months. The underlying geology of Jubilee Country Park is London Clay, about 10 metres deep which becomes waterlogged in winter but dries and cracks during dry weather allowing water retained in winter to drain away.
LCF funding is sought for restoration and enhancement of the existing pond.
