Jubilee Woods for County Durham

The creation of 10 new woodlands, totalling 140 hectares across the county of Durham, in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, including one Diamond Wood. All of the land included in this project, is in the ownership of Durham County Council. The Woodland Trust will lease the land from the Council, create and design the new woodlands. All of which will be open to the public for free. Schools and local communities will be involved in all aspects of woodland creation, including the planting of trees at event on each of the 10 sites.
