Keep Wales Tidy – Wrexham

The project will enhance the environment around river banks in the Wrexham area of North Wales by undertaking small scale environmental improvement projects with Community Rivercare groups in the area. Projects will also involve volunteers from the probation service, youth offending teams, schools, the community and professional contractors where required.

Environmental improvements include Himalayan Balsam/Japanese Knotweed control works, erosion prevention works, tree planting, construction of footpaths/bridges/fences/picnic areas/nature trails, installation of benches/interpretation boards, construction of otter holes/bird boxes and improving disabled access to River side sites.

The entire project in North Wales (£368,000) will be co-ordinated by Keep Wales Tidy and specifically by a local Project Officer who will be based in Wrexham.

Project costs include staff costs (Project Officer), tools, volunteer costs, publicity, running costs and contractor costs
