Kemsing-Shoreham Chalk Grassland Grazing Project

To restore chalk grassland on a landscape-scale, by developing a self-sustaining livestock grazing programme. Kent Wildlife Trust will work in partnership with local Parish Councils, landowners, graziers and community volunteers.

The project area includes a mosaic of connected sites of potentially high biodiversity value. Focusing upon existing reserves at Kemsing, Fackenden Down and Polhill Bank, KWT will restore and extend chalk grassland that has declined in extent and quality over time as a direct result of inadequate management.

KWT will provide livestock, associated resources (grazing infrastructure, feed) and management advice, as well as making available a grazier incentive fund.
