Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership – Godmersham River Restoration

The River Stour flows through the Godmersham Estate below the City of Canterbury. Wide and deep, with undercut steep banks along most of this stretch, the river is slack (slow flowing) with accumulations of silt which consequently demean habitat value for native aquatic flora and fauna.
This project is to deliver river restoration techniques to restore bankside gradients, establish in-river banks using silt from the central channel, create in-river deflectors and stabilise new banks with native aquatic planting.
