Killamarsh Community Trust, Long Eaton – Skate and Park Ride

The Killamarsh Parish Council has been working closely with the Killamarsh Community Trust Association (KCTA) and Derbyshire Youth Service to help deliver a skate and ride park for the young people of the area. The project was identified by the young people over 7 years ago but could not be delivered .This year the Parish Council who own and operate the Sports Centre, reviewed the demand for the existing “red court” and agreed that the facility would be more suited for skate and ride provision. A detailed consultation exercise was undertaken and design workshops undertaken to develop the project to this stage. The Parish Council and KCT(A) have been working with young people, the Youth Service, Police etc., on other youth based projects such as the Aroma Cafe (now re-opened on Friday evenings) and is currently considering options for a new music venue / studio – all within close proximity and that will ultimately link in with the proposed skate and ride park and overall youth provision for the area.
