Kings Cliffe Common, Northampton - Wildflower Meadow Grazing infrastructure (008516)

The common is a field which had been grazed for many years and in the years following handover showed a host of native flora, with orchids and other interesting plants; and fauna, including adders and slowworm. The field has now been unmanaged for a number of years, and the biodiversity has collapsed. In line with the county Local Nature Recovery Strategy, this project will restore the wildflower meadow, by install a conservation grazing regime with sheep, over 2.5 acres of the field, from October to March each year, to remove the rank grasses and restore the original flora.
