Kirkheaton – Improvement of infrastructure; Public Rights of Way, Bridleways and Green Roads.

Many of the ‘access ways’ (footpaths & bridleways) around Kirkheaton are in a poor state of repair. The project will provide safe access and use of them which will promote the health and well-being of local people. It will provide safer access to the environment which will impact on all ages. Through the restoration of dry stone walls, for example, community participation will increase as will the skills of those involved. Restoration of the green roads would allow them to be used more regularly and more importantly render them safer allowing access to less able people. Some of these green roads are important historic remnant route-ways that are currently the subject of an application for protected status.
