Kirtlington Village Pond restoration

The project is the final step in a wider programme to improve radically the biodiversity of the pond.The work will include;
a) Pumping the water out of the main pond so that volunteers can remove the fish and as much of the Crassula as possible (before introduction of machinery, thus reducing the risk of it spreading).
b) A digger to carefully lift out as much as practical of the extensive vegetation growth and its roots, targeting the Typha.
c) Removal from site of the arisings (to local farm).
d) Taking the opportunity to carry out essential maintenance work on the stone wall at the back of the pond in order to safeguard its future.
