Knapdale BeaverTrial Reintroduction Project

This project is an innovative scheme to trial the reintroduction of the European beaver to Scotland. A licence has been granted to the project partners by the Scottish Government to allow us to undertake a 6 year trial reintroduction of the European beaver to Knapdale (the first ever formal reintroduction of a native mammal into the wild anywhere in the UK).

Key Outputs & Outcomes:
Assessment of beaver ecology in the current Scottish environment.
Evaluation of the effects of beaver on local habitats and species including forestry and freshwater lochs.
Positive impact on the local economy (via enhanced green tourism).
