Knodishall Village Hall Land Purchase

An opportunity has arisen to acquire the land immediately adjacent to and behind the village hall. This land was available for use by the Village Hall for nearly 90 years during the period from 1928 until 1995 when the owners, The Royal British Legion, exercised its right of ownership and withdrew the land from use by the village. In 2005, the Royal British Legion applied for planning for residential use and after objections, appeals and more objections, the planning application was refused. The land was then put up for sale by sealed bids but the Village Hall’s bid was not successful. The private individual who purchased the land has decided to sell it to the Village Hall at their original sealed bid price.
