Lackford Lakes visitor centre windows

The visitor centre at Lackford Lakes nature reserve is a multi use building, with an education room and office base for the Trust’s reserve staff and volunteers, as well as the visitor facilities. It is also used for meetings by the local community. There is no charge to visit the reserve or visitor centre.

The project will refurbish the picture windows which fill the front of visitor centre, offering panoramic views across the nature reserve from the ground floor and upstairs viewing gallery. Work will include sanding and revarnishing to protect the wooden frames from weathering damage

The windows are on the north side of the building and so are particularly vulnerable to weathering, with the woodwork in the shade and constantly damp from October to March. As the windows are the full height of the building, we will need scaffolding as well as materials and specialist labour.
