Projects / Ladybarn Park

Ladybarn Park

Ladybarn Park is an important amenity site for local residents in Withington, but has little tree covers and plenty of under-used open space that would benefit aesthetically from environmental regeneration. Tree planting also would provide benefits, such as shade, reduced flood risk, and increased biodiversity.

Although work started 15 years ago at Ladybarn Park to transform the site by planting little woodlands, one aim of this project is to improve these by thinning and replanting with native trees.

The other aims are to improve the appearance of the park by planting extra-heavy park trees; and to engage children in creating a hedge between the park and their school.

This project will soften the appearance of the park; create new habitats, which will attract a greater diversity of wildlife; and provide a valuable educational resource for local schools.
