Lady’s Wood Bat Project

This project aims to benefit greater horseshoe bats as well as four other UK Biodiversity Action Plan Species: barbestelle bat, Bechstein’s bat, lesser horseshoe bat and pipistrelle bat.

LCF funds will be used to carry out a bat survey in the Glaze Brook Valley (south Dartmoor) in order to determine the presence and abundances of these and other bat species. Based on the results of the survey, we will carry out appropriate woodland management at Lady’s Wood nature reserve (which lies at the lower end of the valley) in order to improve feeding, breeding and hibernating habitat for greater horseshoes and all other species found.
