Lakeside Playground, Leeds – New Play Equipment (006265)

The project will replace the free to access Lakeside playground in the hugely popular Roundhay Park, the largest and most visited park in Leeds. The current playground is woefully inadequate in terms of selection, quality and accessibility,

The playground will become a destination rather than a disappointment, and a true community asset. There will be accessible, imaginative, fun and exciting equipment and a colourful rubber surface.

It will encourage young children to be active, play, socialise and learn with their friends and carers in an inspiring area themed on ‘the History of Roundhay Park’ (there is a playground for older children nearby). Disabled children will be able to join their peers in play. Local families (both those who actively travel to other playgrounds and those who don’t have the means to do so) will come to Roundhay Park due to the much-improved playground, so spending more time locally and enjoying the beautiful wider park environment.
