Lancashire Coastal Sand Dunes Project

The project aims to manage and promote the coastal sand dunes in North Lancashire. Sand dunes systems are a national BAP Priority Habitat and in Lancashire cover approximately 90ha. The project aims to:
– enhance the nature conservation of the dunes
– improve their sea defence value
– increase public access, appreciation and enjoyment
A comprehensive management plan has been written to identify tasks which will maintain or achieve condition of the current habitat resource. The local community will be involved through a well publicised and varied programme of management, research and education tasks.
