Lancaut Church

Lancaut church (a grade 2 listed building and a part of a scheduled ancient monument) is the sole surviving (above ground level) building in the abandoned village of Lancaut that lies in a loop of the Wye in Gloucestershire just north of Chepstow overlooked by the Iron Age fort, known as Spital Meend. There is some evidence that the existing structure of the church contains remnants of this “ancient Celtic oratory”.
The application is to accept the vesting of the church in the name of the Trust and to undertake a programme of conservation, interpretation and on-going maintenance to ensure the safe access of members of the public when visiting the monument, which is located adjacent to a popular public footpath along the river Wye
