Landford House, Deptford - Community Garden Creation (008380)

The project will transform an unused housing estate space into a quality, inclusive and climate resilient garden. It will provide doorstep greenspace that enables active and outdoor lifestyles and supports the mental and physical health of 864 residents and the wider ward.

By investing in the green space and empowering residents to care for it through green skills development, the project will foster community cohesion and long-term stewardship of both the garden and the wider estate. The project will boost biodiversity for pollinators, mitigate flood and heat risk, reduce noise and air pollution, and support sustainable food growing by implementing trees, planting, SuDS and accessible growing spaces.

With 85.9% of Evelyn residents having no access to private green space, significantly higher than Lewisham (59%) and England (24%) averages, the need for accessible and inviting greenspace in this area is acute.
