Landscaping at ‘Split the Wind,’ Powis, Aberdeen

Froghall, Powis and Sunnybank Environmental Group asked for assistance in funding landscape and access improvements to an open grassy, ‘split the wind’. The need for improvements identified by the community as part of the Community Planning process and taken up by the local environmental group.
The area is heavily used by dog walkers and others as there is a lack of greenspace locally. Use by the public has led the local council providing a dog waste bin on the site. The area is in private ownership and is an open unfenced area around the Calsayseat Medical Centre adjacent to a busy main road. A letter is enclosed indicating that the owner is happy for the site to have open access by the puvbic and for the project to take place. The proposal is to provide four seats with a granite stone feature, as well as the planting of bulbs, wildflower plugs, native trees and a hedge screening the road. The work will be carried out by Froghall, Powis and Sunnybank Environmental Group
