Langford Heathfield woodland restoration and access project

The aim of this project is to improve the woodland habitat and the access to it. The reserve is a SSSI. It is heavily used by local people who will benefit from the improvements. There are important BAP species such as the dormouse, song thrush, bullfinch and double line moth. Other nationally important species include lesser spotted woodpecker and small pearl bordered fritillary. Works include coppicing 1400 metres of ride edge, woodland thinning, path improvements and the construction of a pedestrian bridge. Volunteers will be involved in coppicing on this project.
