Projects / Lapwing Recovery at Sandwell Valley

Lapwing Recovery at Sandwell Valley

The project will consist of various habitat improvement measures by enhancing early succession habitats on grassland and lake edges for the benefit of lapwing (UK BAP species). These will include cutting the marsh and weeding the island to protect nesting sites from invasive vegetation; scrub removal to eliminate potential predator perches; raking the cut vegetation into habitat piles for invertebrates to increase food sources and reprofiling the shoreline to create an enhanced muddy feeding area.
