Lapwings on your Doorstep

Potteric Carr has significant areas of wet grassland, which with careful restoration and the right management could provide excellent conditions for a range of wildlife. Wet grassland is in serious decline nationally and very little remains locally. As such it is a local and national Biodiversity Action Plan priority. This project gives us a great opportunity to use traditional grazing techniques to restore the meadows to the same high standard as the wetlands in order to develop a diverse community of plants and insects, ideal breeding habitat for birds such as lapwings and yellow wagtails.
