Large blue reintroduction project at Daneway Banks

Daneway Banks is a 17ha Site of Special Scientific Interest designated for its unimproved limestone grassland. The Large blue butterfly which became extinct in the the UK in the late 1970s was recently reintroduced to Daneway Banks. Daneway Banks is currently the only site in Gloucestershire to support the large blue. The main aim of the project is to provide suitable habitat for the large blue. The management will also benefit other important species that the grassland spports.
