Lauderdale Enhanced

This project will replace the damaged Victorian pine floor with reclaimed oak flooring more in keeping with a Grade ii* listed tutor building. The increase in footfall has worn down the tread of the floor boards to a dangerous level. The floor has had three sanding and re-varnishing which has further weakened the surfaces of the boards. The floor area is 200sq metres and covers the entrance hall, lower gallery, performance area, visitor amenities and cafe area. The ground floor provides the main access to the house and it is where most of the performances, exhibitions and events happen. The wear and tear means that the floor must be replaced if the house is to remain open to the public. Failure to complete this work would mean that 33% of our income would be at risk and would mean that the house will have to close to the public. If the house has to close the footfall will diminish and trying to get the public back after closure will take 3-4 years which will add to the overall loss of income.
