LED Floodlight Installation, Cheddar Association Football Club, Weston-super-Mare

The project is to replace existing halide floodlighting with LED at Cheddar AFC. The club will replace existing metal halide floodlighting system with new LED technology. This will allow the club to significantly reduce energy consumption and become far more energy efficient. Planning permission for the development has been obtained.

This new LED lighting project will benefit the area and the local community in various ways. It will encourage more participants at the club, creating more groups, including women and girls. This will also provide a better access to the clubhouse for community groups. It will enable the club to increase the number of training opportunities especially in the evening as running costs are reduced – this results in extended clubhouse opening which will also provide additional revenue helping to reduce costs for those attending indoor and outdoor sessions. Reduced light spillage will help the surrounding areas, less intrusion in neighbouring properties and benefit the environment and wildlife. New floodlighting will secure the future of the club as a participant within competitive non-league football which is currently under jeopardy.
