Leeds Mencap – Space for Me to Grow

Leeds Mencap is an independent charity, established by a group of parents of children with learning disabilities. For over 60 years, it has been operating out of a converted school which is no longer fit for purpose in the East End Park area of Leeds. However, following a successful fundraising campaign, construction has just started on a new purpose built community centre close by. The Space for Me to Grow project involves volunteers from the local and the learning disability communities co-producing and delivering the public soft landscaping elements around the new building. This will include raised beds, sensory garden elements, food growing, mosaic art and tree planting.
