Leeds Urban Woodland Project

Temple Newsam is a large public park of 1,500 acres, set around an historic Tudor/Jacobean mansion house. The planting site is situated along the western boundary, south of Halton Moor Wood. Immediately west of Temple Newsam is a large-scale development called the ‘Leeds Enterprise Zone’. This is a multi-million pound investment incorporating a range of industrial sites and extensive housing.

We planted 11,110 trees at Temple Newsam Park, Leeds:
– To screen and mitigate pollution from the Leeds Enterprise Zone, which borders the planting site.
– Replacement planting to create mature woodland for the future.
– To increase canopy cover and add density creating a habitat corridor by linking Halton Moor and Bell Woods.
– To engage the local community in planting events
– To create a valuable educational and recreational resource for local communities.
