Leycett Cricket Club - Grounds Equipment

This project at Leycett Cricket Club is to purchase much needed grounds equipment, to maximise chances of games/training sessions going ahead following bad weather. Despite Leycett only being a small village of 30-35 houses, last season over 60 players played for senior teams and 75 juniors aged 4 years upwards signed up to either train or play in matches. In addition to the players, their families support and help out on match days and training sessions, on a weekly basis. Last season, the weather demonstrated the need for this extra equipment as the Club had to call off several games/training sessions, due to not being able to get the pitches covered/dried enough to make it safe for teams to play. The Club are also planning on starting a ladies team next season as well as a junior girls team, which will be in the under 10’s or 12’s age group. The club and facilities are open to anyone and external organisations also use the facilities, eg local schools, Keele University and Staffs cricket.

The project will provide a new cover and a replacement sheet, side and bowlers run up sheets, flat sheets to cover other wickets and a water hog and sponges.
