Lifeline for Lapwings- Fencing Project

This project will provide a safer nesting environment for lapwings (UK BAP Priority Species) at Northward Hill to ensure that sufficient chicks fledge to sustain their population. It employs best practice techniques in conserving this endangered species. In order to maintain a sustainable population, lapwings must raise 0.6/0.8 chick per pair per year. Despite providing perfect habitat for lapwing in terms of water management and grazing regime, their nesting productivity is only 0.1/0.3 chicks per pair at this site, This project will dramatically increase breeding productivity.
