Lightfoot Green Lane Footbridge Widening Project

This project aim is to replace the existing ‘narrow’ footbridge with one that is to a standard for a shared cycle route and can accommodate prams, wheel chairs and tramper vehicles. Widening this bridgewill also ensure this section forms a consistent part of the Preston Guild Wheel.
The Preston Guild Wheel is a continuous, 21 mile long route orbiting Preston’s urban fringe. It will be established to allow people to legally use the route on foot or pedal cycle. It has the potential to be a widely used asset of local and county significance. The Guild Wheel will provide the platform for a range of complementary initiatives, including community led environmental improvements, play provision, heritage and interpretation, arts, events and celebrations. The footbridge in its current condition is not wide enough to be a multi use pathway. This project aims to fund widening the bridge to allow better access to people using the Guild Wheel for walking or cycling.
