Little Ouse River Fenland Restoration

The project is located within the Little Ouse River catchment area and includes adjacent nature reserve sites at Hopton Fen and Thelnethem Fen. The objectives are to protect the fenland habitat in this area of Suffolk which represents some 10% ot the tatal Suffolk fenland. The project supports the delivery of the BAP habitat targets for ponds and wet woodlands. In addition to the protection and enhancement of the Suffolk fenland habitat, five Suffolk BAP species and Suffolk character species will benefit from the resporation: Reed Bunting, Desmoulins’s Whorl Snail, Barn Owl, Water Shrew and Great Crested Newt
