Livingstone Street Play & Community Centre, Merseyside- new natural play area

Aim of this project is to replace an old adventure playground, which is dangerous for children and young people. The current space does not meet the needs of the local community. Despite best efforts to rejuvenate the 20 + years play equipment it is now beyond repair. After consultation with residents, service users and steering group, the need for a safe play space, which is accessible and provide multi sensory learning and play experiences was identified. Creating a sensory oasis in an urban area, to include natural resources to explore texture, smell and sound also provide an opportunity for children of all ages to take risks and push boundaries in a safe widely accessible setting When finished, the project will be an interchangeable space to capture imagination and promote cognitive development. Using a flexible design people who would not otherwise meet, will be engaged to encourage social interaction while having fun
