Loch of Kinnordy Recovery

This project will restore habitats at Loch of Kinnordy to benefit lapwing, otter and water vole (all UK BAP species). The eutrophic loch is a UK BAP habitat (Eutrophic Standing Water) as is the adjacent Lowland Fen. We will restructure islands within the eutrophic loch using Truxor wetland management machinery. Approximately 6 hectares of willow scrub, which is encroaching on the eutrophic loch, will be cleared. A grazing regime will be implemented over approximately 30 hectares of Lowland Fen habitat. Koniks (hardy ponies) will significantly improve the structure and species composition, improving conditions for breeding waders such as lapwing (UK BAP).
