London Meadows Project

This project will focus upon restoring grassland habitat at some of London’s most important nature reserves. We aim to restore 42ha of chalk, neutral and wet grassland at 6 sites: Frays Farm Meadows SSSI, Ickenham Marsh, Ten Acre Wood, Huckerby’s Meadows, Totteridge Fields and Gutteridge Wood. These sites span three London boroughs but are linked by their need for restoration to protect the city’s meadow habitat and key related species. Restoration of these important grassland habitats will be achieved through control and management of invasive and non desirable species, supplementary meadow cuts and scrub control undertaken by a combination of staff, volunteers and contractors.
