London Tails of Amphibian Discovery: Epping Forest

We will restore Cow Pond at Epping Forest. Its large size (50m x70m) and its location next to woodlands makes it an ideal habitat for toads, however due to excessive vegetation inside the pond and overhanging it, it has dried out. We will remove all the overgrowth to create an open water body. This will ensure that there is plenty of open water for toads and that the water remains an optimum temperature. Common toads have declined by 68% over the past 30 years hence improving habitats for them is very much needed.
