London Tails of Amphibian Discovery (T.O.A.D)

We will restore an existing toad pond which no longer has the ecological ability to function as a breeding pond. The pond has become overgrown which has resulted in debris. This reduces the amount of water that the pond can hold and the shading from trees means that the small amount of water that it does hold is too cold for breeding. The restoration work will enhance the ecological status of the pond and provide the existing toad population with a breeding pond again. We will carry out minor tree works to reduce the shading and we will create much needed hibernacula in the woodland that is used by the toads to over-winter.
We will deliver volunteer training at the site. This will encompass species identification, species monitoring and habitat management.
