London Tails of Amphibian Discovery (T.O.A.D)

Restoring existing toad pond which no longer has the ecological ability to function as a breeding pond. The pond is overgrown which has resulted in debris. This reduces the amount of water that the pond can hold and the shading from trees means that the small amount of water that it does hold is too cold for breeding.
Creating two new ponds will complement the existing pond. These will provide stepping stones for toads and a wide range of aquatic wildlife. It will facilitate the expansion of the toad population which will help to address the severe declines in the UKs common toad populations (research has established that the UKs common toads have declined by 68% over 30 years).
We will deliver volunteer training. This includes species identification, species monitoring and habitat management.
